Workshops and demonstrations are available in your home, school, or meeting place. Workshops generally require about 1 1/2 hours to complete the project. Fees depend on the workshop material cost per participant and my travel distance. Lectures and demonstrations are usually $50 - $100 depending on the time frame.
Workshops
Inkle Weaving Workshop
Participants will design a warp-faced belt or bookmark, warp an inkle loom and weave a band 1" or 2" wide. Limited to 6 students.
Needlefelting Workshop
Participants will make a sitting cat, a sitting dog or a bird. Teenagers or adults only.
Basketry Workshops
Children will make a round reed basket. Grades 3 and up. Limited to 25 students.
Adults will make a small round reed basket using twining techniques. They will learn how to add color to produce different pattern effects.
Demonstrations or Lectures
Producing fabric during colonial times
Learn how flax was prepared to make linen. See how wool was sheared, carded, spun on a drop spindle or a spinning wheel, measured on a niddy noddy,dyed with natural dyes. and woven into fabric. Try your hand at carding and weaving.
Suitable for school groups, museum programs, and other events. I generally wear period clothing.

Cloth production differences between the Revolutionary and Civil wars
Learn how inventions such as the cotton gin and mechanization changed the way fabric was produced.
