Lois Macknik began needlefelting in 2001. She currently makes cats,
birds, and other animals, as well as ornaments and character heads.

While industrial felters have used beds of felting needles for a long
time, until recently craftspeople were using only wet felting techniques.
A few years ago, felting needles became available to them. The
procedure is to start with washed sheep's fleece, form it into a ball or
other shape, and repeatedly stab it with a felting needle (a special very
sharp needle with barbs) until it becomes felted. You continue to add
colored fleece and additional shapes until you have your desired
creation. Each creation has its own personality.

Each of Lois Macknik's needlefelted creations is unique,
with its own personality. The following items are
generally available:
- CATS - white, black, black and white, tan, brown,
tan and brown, various shades of orange, orange
and white, gray, gray and white. Cats are about 2
1/4 " - 3" tall.
- BIRDS - bluebirds, gold finches, robins, scarlet
tanagers
- TEDDY BEARS - These can sit on a shelf or hang
from your Christmas Tree. They are about 2 1/2"
tall and brown.
- DOGS - in a variety of colors. Dogs are about 2 1/2
to 3 1/2 inches tall and can sit on a shelf
- HALLOWEEN HAGS - These green skinned witch
heads are made to hang
- ANGELS - These are made to hang on your tree or
for a year-round decoration
- CHRISTMAS TREES - These are decorated on both
sides and made to hang. Choice of red or lime
green base.
PUMPKINS - These orange pumpkins with dark
green stems look great as decorations.
They stand 1 1/2 to 2 inches tall.
